    Accounting bad debt expense?
Hi, I have one question about the accounting for allowance for doubtful accounts.
If the question ask: beginning balance in the allowance for doubtful accounts is $8000, during the year, it wrote off actual customer accounts $7300, @ the end of the year, the accountant uses an aging of accounts receivable schedule to estimate that $10500 of those accounts are uncollectible. Then how much will the bad debts expense account be debited for?
    Thank for!!

You need to bring the allowance account up to $10,500. Give it a try yourself and post the answer here... I will let you know how you do.
