    Slander and Defamation Laws
Hello to All. Well my boyfriend's baby's mother has just found out about six months ago that he and I are together, and needless to say she is jealous beyond reason. She has made continuous false claims to DCF (dept of children & families) saying that he and I have physically and sexually abused the child. She calls the DCF Rep assigned to our case, every other day making up false claims. She has even went as far to tell the DCF Rep that I have a child of my own that was removed due to me physically and sexually abusing her. This child she speaks of Doesn't EVEN EXIST!! The DCF Rep along with everyone else, knows that she has turned this into a personal vendetta against me and is just doing this to try and scare me off because she doesn't want us to be together. Does these false accusations fall under the slander/defamation of character laws? She has also made a point to call and harass our friends and families with this madness and lies. Does this constitute as harassment? All of this drama has caused me to go into complete stress, trouble focusing at work. I have seen a therapist and have been diagnosed as being in a depressive state and actually prescribed medication. This woman's craziness is driving me crazy. Is there anything I can do as far as filing slander charges? Also, as far as the false accusations to DCF, do these places have a policy on people using them to carry out vendettas? I mean, our Rep has been as helpful as she can, but at some point can't DCF press charges against HER? HELP!! Anyone?

    Hello D:

Sure you can sue her. Go visit a lawyer today.

Uhhh, does she have any money?? Nope, then I wouldn't sue.

Uhhh, do YOU have money to hire a lawyer?? Nope, then I wouldn't sue.

Certainly - as Excon said you hire an Attorney and pay him/her to sue the person making the false accusations. If you prevail (win) you will collect for your monetary damages.
