    US Federal Tax Return
I am a H1 - B holder, and I relocated from US to India, permanantly, for good in Oct 2008.
Now, I am filing US Tax return for the year 2008, while living in India.

Can I claim the expenses incurred for moving my personal stuff/items to India, as moving expenses to a new job location, while filing the US Federal Tax Return.

    Thanks in Advance

You have left your U.S. job and relocated to India so you can not deduct moving expenses.

    Hi MukatA,

I am trying to e-file both federal and state returns. My online Tax software says that my federal return is not eligible for e-file for the following reason.

The IRS does not allow Electronic Filing for returns claiming a recovery rebate credit with a U.S. Possession or foreign address.

Is it true that IRS does not allow Electronic Filing for returns claiming a recovery rebate credit ?

Or is it my foreign address that is making my return not eligible for e-file.

    Please clarify.

What the notice says is that, if you have a Recovery Rebate Credit as part of your return, then you CANNOT efile if your have an address outside of the fifty states of the U.S.
