    No water in sump punp
My sump pump doesn't get any water in it, even when it rains. While part of me says, "Great, I don't have to worry about my basement flooding if the lights go out, etc." I'm sure something must be wrong when no water is coming in. What do I do to see what is wrong, or should I not worry about it?

    Hey Bev,
You're just looking for trouble when there's none to find. Your basement's dry. If you should get water in your basement then the pump will kick in and pump it out. Until then rest easy. Your worries are unfounded. Good luck and thank you for rating my answer. Tom

I agree with Tom. The sump removes excess ground water from around your fondation. If there is none you are one of the few lucky folks I have heard from. In my area I get paid good money to install backup pumps because our main pumps break down right in the middle of a storm.

THAT'S FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much! I did spend $4,000 last year to put a new drain pipe in my back yard when I had the problem with sewer back-up so that must have really fixed my problem! How nice to NOT have a problem. Thanks again!!

Backup Water in Basement from Sump Pump [ 2 Answers ]

I had a house built 18 years ago over a wooded area along with 9 other homes in a culdasac. Each time we loose electricity, our basement floods within 2-4 hours. We have a sump pump and have burned up 3 pumps thus far. I believe it is possible a spring is under my home but not sure how I can...

Basement water / sump pump [ 1 Answers ]

We have water coming into our basement when it rains. Until recently, the water flowed into a drain in a recessed area of the basement and did not cause many problems except for a wet floor. Water flows back into sump... after ~30 seconds [ 1 Answers ]

I just replaced a 9 year old 1/3HP sump pump (float) this past weekend with a new pump (diaphragm switch) of the same size. There is also a backup sump pump in the sump. The discharge lines on each pump rise up 4-5 feet and then join up (kinda like a small “h”). Each discharge line has a check...
