Buzzing radio . Is it electrical issue
I recently added a new receptacle in my laundry room. The only other item on the circuit is the washing machine receptacle. There was already a receptacle in the same room in which we have plugged in a radio. When we plug the radio into the new receptacle the radio has a buzzing static noise. Could this be an electrical problem?

Bad ground or reverse polarity are possibilities.

    Metal vs. plastic box.

Wires too close to radio antenna, in or on wall.

Box not grounded if metal box. There needs to be a pigtal to the box if the box is metal.

3 prong or polarized plug on the radio?

Thanks for the response. I have used an outlet tester, and it says that the box is wired correctly. It is a plastic box. The radio has a two prong polarized plug. The new wires are no closer that the old wires to the radio.

    OK, do this:

Use an extension cord and plug the radio into the good outlet, but put the radio in the bad position and vice versa.

    What happens?
