DH replaced shower/bath DIVERTER w_ all new parts- STILL doesn't work!
SITUATION: We have 2 houses that both have the SAME shower/bath diverter problem. (Houses differ in age and water pressure so I seriously doubt it's 'their' problem.) My husband replaced the diverters with all new parts in each of the houses...

 WHY are we still getting water coming from both the shower head AND the tub faucet in each of the houses??

The amount of the water leaking does change whenever we turn the diverter's handle (the shower runs a small stream while the tub's faucet is working great OR the tub's faucet runs a small stream while we're using the shower, and IT is running great.) It kind of reminds me of the little engine that 'could' only this little engine can NOT.

My husband didn't just replace parts HE thought he needed. For the first house, he referred to books. When that way failed, he took the old diverter stem AND pics of one of the houses w/ him to Lowe's to be sure he replaced "ALL the right parts."

Everything went in smoothly, my DH tightened everything in very tightly, but it didn't change a thing!

It's driving us c-r-r-A-z-y!! Please help us. If you have diagrams and/or pics, too, we'd be especially grateful!)

Thanks in advance for your helpful advice! :)

I wish I could tell you the brands/models for each of the houses' faucet assemblies but both were installed before we bought the houses and I have no idea what they are.

If you mean their shapes, they would be shaped more like a knob than a handle.

    #2 - eew, maybe there's a connection... ;)

They look most like the Moen, except our handles are metal instead of plastic.

Handles can be replaced. If this turns out to be a Moen the parts have a lifetime warranty and great Moen customer support. The diverter is not a isolated valve in this case, its integral to the faucet. Here is a slightly cleare diagram of a 2995 http://www.moen.com/shared/pdf/2995pt.pdf

WHOOPS! I thought you were only asking about the handles.

The stem looks most like #1, the Riviera 3-valve system.

I don't have a picture right now but if I can post one before we fix it, I will. :)

Frankly, I hope (in that case) you won't be seeing a picture posted. ;)

Thank you for your time and interest!
