    New puppy added
How do I stop a previously housebroken female dog from pooping in house since adding new 7 month old puppy.. I'm sure it's jealousy. We have made every effort to give older dog(Heidi) plenty of attention. She is give plenty of outdoor poppy time.:(

Many dogs cannot handle change, it sounds like Heidi is one of them.

How old is Heidi, what breed is she?

You may have to start from scratch, retrain her to go potty outside, lots of praise when she does, even a treat to reinforce. Do not scold, just praise when she does what she's supposed to.

The good news, this usually doesn't last long, also she's already potty trained, you just have to re-establish the rules.

Good luck and congrats on your new puppy.

Maybe you could try and associate the new comer with something good. Sit down with Heidi and have someone else bring the puppy into the room, when Heidi sees him, give her a treat. Do this a few times and soon as soon as she sees the puppy she'll probably be looking for her treat. Make sure Heidi gets plenty of love when the puppy is around to. Maybe if she begins to associate the puppy with good things, you may see improvement with the jealousy issues.

My retriever did this when I brought a puppy into the house. He soon got used to her though and it stopped after a couple of weeks. You just have to make sure he doesn't dip out on attention because of the new arrival.
