We have recently purchased a new house and the prevoius owners installed a shower enclosure in the corner of the bedroom. I am going to pull the shoer out. How do I go about making sure the water and electrical supplies as well as the drainage are all safe and secure after I have removed the shower and before I put new walls up?

Hi Gavin:

Hopefully, there are no electrical wires associated with the shower... shouldn't be unless you are talking about a fan/light assembly above the shower? If so, you would shut off power and then remove the light/fan and then you would take the wires and install them inside a junction box and install that flush with the ceiling. You would cover the box with a cover plate that is accessible at the ceiling. You cannot just bury the wires... ok?

In terms of the water supply you would need to shut the water off, drain the pipes and then cap the lines in the wall.

In terms of the waste, you would need to remove the ptrap under the shower and cap the drain line with a PVC (or ABS) pressure cap.

That should be all you need to do.

When removing the shower, be sure to be careful of wires in the wall, otherwise I think you should be all set here.

Mark covered it quite well, now if you post a picture maybe we can give more details. This isn't a power shower or anything along those lines is it?

So you will have some electrical issues to take care of. We don't see power showers in the USA so I don't have enough experience to help you any further.
