Either the oil pressure is low (most likely) or the sending unit is bad. Attach a mechanical oil pressure gauge, to ensure the oil pressure is okay. Err on the side of caution.

The cause needs to be determined; e.g. worn oil pump or worn journals. If so, it requires immediate attention. I would have it towed to Honda, to prevent any engine damage. Ignoring an oil light is asking for trouble.

To prevent major engine problems in the future, use 5W-30 full-synthetic engine oil (e.g. Mobil 1). Synthetics offer a much higher margin of safety. Change synthetic engine oil and filter every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. Also, use synthetic ATF in your automatic transmission.

Just above the oil filter. Remove connector and unscrew sending unit. Access is from below--easy job. Hope it works.

Okay so I changed the oil pressure switch, changed the oil, new oil filter and so now the oil light will flash when I start the car then stop when I drive not very far but will come back on for a while and go back off... its like on and off sometimes it doesn't come backon for quite a while... what do you think might be going on? It is driving me crazy

You need to attach a mechanical oil gauge and get a reading. Only then will you know if the oil pressure is dangerously low.

Did you clean the connector to the oil sending unit?

So wouldn't the oil pressure switch take care of the low oil pressure problem?

Not at all. My concern is that there is internal journal wear, possibly due to not changing the oil and filter frequently enough. The oil pressure is likely marginal, which causes the light to periodically come on. Attaching a gauge would answer this question.

So if this is the case what it take to fix it... hopefully not the oil pump that is pretty expensive for the honda... also should I even be driving the car right now

First, moderators don't want you starting a new posting each time--just add to your first one.

I would not drive it, until you have the actual oil pressure checked. It's possible you are facing an engine rebuild.
