How can I shrink a video file for the web?
    Hello,
I have a video file that I need to compress for a website without deleting any of it. The video is approximately 30min in length and I need to get it down to about 10mb.
Is this possible and if so how?
I recently purchased a mac and I am still learning my way around it.
    Your input is greatly appreciated.

Do you have Adobe Flash? You could embed the video into the a flash file...

What format is it in? Maybe try converting it to a mpg to compress it further?

If you want to rape your media that way:

    1.
mediacoder "target size" - Google Search

MediaCoder - more than a universal audio/video transcoder

    2.
    video codec: H.264
    Audio codec: AAC
Bitrate: something retardedly low like 200 Kbps
    Resize to 25% original dimensions

    ..

Mediacoder will NOT modify your DirectShow filters (codecs) unlike 'super' or the vast majority of transcoding applications

^ If you don't want to tangle with running windows applications on OSX then you're in for some added trauma finding a suitable, SINGLE program solution for your transcoding needs

    +osx transcode x264 - Google Search

VideoHelp.com - Forum, Guides, Tools and hardware lists

    Thanks to all of you!
I found a software program that does exactly what you have all suggested. It has many file format options for saving.
