Georgia Law on making payments to your dentist?
In 2006 my dentist wanted to do bonding to my two front teeth. I told him I could not afford it unless the insurance paid at least half. He said he would run it through firs and let me know. They told me the cost was one thousand dollars and the insurance would pay half. So I made the appoitment and had it done. And made arraingements to pay my half. They then billed me the total cost and said the insurance did not pay and they could never guarantee they would. I told them I would have never had the procedure if the insurance was not paying. Anyway I set up monthly payments of 25 dollars a month. I lost why job rihgt after this but have never missed a payment. It is now 2009 and they told me I had to pay the entire amount because it is taking to long to pay at 25 a month. I told her I could not afford more than 25 a mont and it was that or nothing. She says I must pay the full amount within 60 days. What are my options?

Do you have any that you said you would only pay if the insurance covered half?

Its too bad you didn't ask us back then. Normally such procedures are preapproved.

I would suggest that you tell the dentist that you believe you were lied to and you will pay the $500 and nothing more. If they don't like it tell them to take you to court. If they do take you to court tell the judge that you only agreed to the procedure if the insurance paid half. I think the judge will believe you.

They should have had the insurance pre-approved, did you talk with your insurance company as to why they did not pay, what was the issue with the insurace.

But if you have an agreement in writing that they will accept and allow you to pay 25 dollars a month, then you have nothing to worry about, if you don't,
They may declare the entire amount due, plus interest plus late fees and sue you in court, Georgia allows them to garnish your wages if they get a judgement
