    Do I have to pay
If I was in jail when my vehicle was towed do I still have to pay the impound fees? What are my rights?

Yes even a victim whose car was stolen has to pay the impound fees if it ends up in the impound. Many people lose their cars because they can not afford to pay it.

When my car was stolen and recovered by the police in the middle of the night some 50 miles away from my home I was informed that I had to immediately come and get it or it would be taken to the impound yard. Well, not having a vehicle (as it was stolen) I told the police to kindly put my car in the impound lot and I would come for it as soon as I could.

Yes, I had to pay the towing and impound fees for my own car which was stolen. The only way I would have avoided paying the towing and impound fee would have been if my car had been hijacked from me at gun point.

And if you were in jail and your vehicle was in the impound lot, you will have to pay for the towing charge and the daily impound fee.

What are your rights? You have the right to bail your car out of "vehicle jail".
