hello,
I have h1b visa right now, my opt begin at 12/2007-9/31/2008.my H1B begin at 10/2008.
during 06/2008 to 09/30/2008,I sell over 11k value laptops on eBay,income about 2000 dollar. First question,do I need to pay tax to IRS about my eBay income.
2,does paypal report my account informations to IRS every year.
if I pay tax about eBay income, does it illegal for F1 OPT status or H1B visa?
if I don't pay tax, does IRS know I do business on eBay,and ask me pay tax later, at the same time, my status is illegal?
I'm so confused.
I search Google many days, don't get clear answer.
I hope you can help me.

IRS taxes on all income. Including income during OPT, you need to report. Cannot continue this type of work on the H-1B.

You need to report and pay taxes regardless. No status violation if you did this work while on OPT.
