They may issue a warrant, but won't go out specifically to get someone.

However, whenever someone is arrested, their record is checked for outstanding warrants nationally. If a warrant is found, its reported back to the issuing juridiction. So its possible that the child support agency can then garnish your salary. For the support payments.

Now the real question is, why won't you support your child?

The answer is... both ( yes & no )

The state can not directly cross a state line to arrest you unless they are in " hot persuit ".

But.. they can pass jurisdiction for collection over to the state that your living in and they would be more then happy to put you in jail if your not paying.

So if your thinking about crossing a state line to avoid child support then your out of luck because no matter where you go.. including a host of other countries we have treaties with.. they can get you.

As noted, it may effect your right to get a drivers license, they may issue a civil and criminal warrants for you.

The criminal warrants will be on a national data base, so if you are stopped for speeding or have a car accident or apply for a job that does a background check they will show up. If stopped by the police they will detain you and see if the state is willing to come get you or pay for you to be sent back, the further away you are the more likely they may not, but they will hold you each time stopped and check again and again.

Also there are some private groups that help hunt you down and give you info to the local polcie if your ex retains the services of some private enforcement groups
