VT rental property for sale with a current lease
I realize that many have asked this question, but am wondering if the law in VT about leases is the same as other states that have had the same question?

I am looking to buy a duplex and one side is rented with lease, the other side is owner occupied, problem I want to live in side that is currently rented. Since there is a lease in place with the current owner do I have to honor the lease?

    Thank you in advance.

If the lease does not contain a provision allowing the landlord to terminate the lease in the event of a sale then you must honor the lease. However you might want to talk to the tenants about possibly buying out their lease. They may be willing to move in exchange for a month or two worth of rent.

We are in the process of attempting sale on our property in Tennessee. The tenant in this house refuses to let us show the house for sale. We received a judgement to get her out but she filed an appeal at last minute. Is there a statute that allows us an "absolute right" to show this house?
