Recovery Rebate Credit - First Time filer - Single
    Hi,

I came to the US only for employment in Feb 2008. This is the first time I came to the US and did not have the eligibility to file 2007 tax return in 2008 and I did not get any stimulus payment in 2008.

My question is, am I eligible for Recovery Rebate Credit while filing 2008 tax return (1040EZ) in 2009? I tried with some online tax filing software and it asks whether I received Economic Stimulus Payment or not? If I say No, the software adds $600 RRC to my refund.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

Yes, you are eligible, as long as you have a valid social security number. If you want to double check what your tax software is telling you, see page 62 of the instructions for form 1040 - it has a worksheet that steps you through the process of calculating the amount of the credit.
