    1040NR vs 1040
    Hello,

I was an undergrad student till June 2008 on F1 visa for the past 5 years. From July I am on OPT. Which from am I eligible for filling, 1040 NR or 1040?
Is there anything else we should know for filing taxes this year?

    Thanks,

If you have spent 5 years on F1/OPT, then for 2008 you will file resident tax return. Read about F1 tax filing: Your U.S. Tax Return: The U.S. Visas

If you arrived in the U.S. on a F-1 visa prior to 1 January 2004, then you will file as a resident alien.

If you arrived on or after 1 January 2004, you will file as a non-resident alien.
