Compulsive Liar
I am a compulsive liar. I can't stop lying. I lie to people I know online, they think I am some great person, but I'm not. I lie to family and I lie to friends.
I don't know how to stop, but I really want to, because it's horrible and I feel terrible. I want to tell my mom I want help and I want to tell her I am a compulsive liar, but I don't know how to or how she will react.
Please help me. I cannot tell people I lied about things because they will hate me and I want to stay friends with them. One of my best friends is an online friend, and I have lied to him a lot and I feel horrible.

The lying is not the problem here. You are a good person but sometimes you bend the truth a little. Maybe... you have insecurities about yourself and you are not full aware of your potential.
Be true to yourself!
Instead of telling lies and getting more and more frustrated each day, why not focus your energy learning a new thing or reading. This will mean that next time you speak with to a family member or friend there will be no need to lie, you will have something new to talk about.
Just a suggestion!

Thanks for replying. :)
The main reason I tell lies is to fit in or to make me seem less boring. I know it's dumb.

Funnily enough I used to do the same and it is a pretty common complaint.
Do you know, the average person will lie at least 3 times in every 10 minutes of conversation? Well... its true!
You will soon stop trying to fit in when you realise who you are and what you want.
"inner peace" is what they call it.

Oh wow, I didn't know that.
Thanks for replying again. :)
Do you think I should tell my mom? Because I want to stop ASAP, and apparently you can get counseling and medication for it...
I also heard people use hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT are all effective therapies to treat a deep 'sub-conscious' patterns.
Telling your folks may help but only you can answer this one. In my case, I sought advice alone and I feel as though I have reached a milestone within myself, there is now no need to lie.
I accept the world around me and for the first time in my life I feel comfortable in myself, my relationship and in my work.
I always research different therapies and alternative health services before going to see the 'Doc'. And again... this is your choice.
Hope it helps.

I don't even know if they will do anything about it or if I will be taken seriously. They might not be able to afford it either.
May I ask, did you tell the people you lied to that some of what you said were lies?
And yeah, it is helping, thanks. :)

If you can't afford therapy then I know a great book called 'hurry up and meditate' by David Michie.
Meditation is a great way to stop the chattering monkey in your head. It is also free to do! At least read about the benefits of meditation.
I never told anyone I lied, I see it as a time in my life when I was searching for my true identity. Everyone is searching... no matter how old or young.
You are lucky that you have the ability to change your habbits and lucky that you are starting to open up to yourself.
You are a beautiful person and nobody can take this away from you. Walk with your head high and know that there is no need to lie to the ones you love the most.
The web of previous lies will, in time, disappear.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.
I feel like I need to leave this area to start over again, but I'm only 15, so I can keep on dreaming. (lol)
I'll try to find that book. :) I'm going to research meditation right now. :)
