My son 22 going on his 2 wedding
My son joined the Navy at 19 Sept.5 2005. Meets a girl after boot camp, starts dating around Thanksgiving. On March 3rd calls and she's pregnant. Wonts to do the right thing and get married. We try to talk him from this. Gets married on April 3rd. He gets transferred to Va. A month latter. With in a month she moves her new boyfriend in. He (boyfriend) lives with her till after the grandchild is born. The hole time married to my son. Her and my son try to make this work. On March 10 2007 she brings the grandchild up to live with us. We now have custody of her scents March 2008. Now he is doing the second marriage. They have known each other for a while & been living together in Va. Scents June 2008. She has started talking about getting custody now. When she came into this relationship she knew that the custody of this little girl was a decision made between her mother, father, and grandparents (us). This girl stayed with us while my son was on deployment for 6 months. She would not pick up after her self, help around the house, nothing! We started paying her to watch the grandchild while we worked and my husband paid her 250. Week. It lasted three weeks and the new got old. We put her in a day care. She would not work, laid out of school witch was 2 days a week. Drive my sons car witch she called hers till it broke down then it was his car. When he came back from deployment in June 2008 he had everything paid off but the car. Now he has over 9,000. In one loan alone. I can deal with her taking my son and will eventually let go. But I can't deal with her taking my grandchild. I'm about to loose it!! Please help!

Your SON is the one who can get custody from the mother IF he can prove she is unfit. I do not see you have legal standing at this point, if that is your question.

Do you have legal guardianship or was this just an arrangement between the parties?

We have had legal custody of her scents March 2008. She was born with out a thyroid gland and has to have med. Every day for the rest of her life. Her mother had her two weeks and didn't give it to her. That's how we got custody. Now the soon to be 2nd wife wants custody of this grandchild.

The soon to be second wife is not the one to get custody, your son gets it and if the bio mother does not object she may be able to adopt.

But in the end, you son has good standing to get custody of the child. Your situation is very common

You have legal CUSTODY, not legal GUARDIANSHIP?

The bio. Mother is stationed on a ship. The bio. Father is stationed to a squadron that's stationed to a ship. Both bio. Parents are in the Navy full time. The new wife is the problem. Both parents agreed to sing over full custody to us because they were in the Navy and was not able to care for her. They were divorced less then 60 days before my son married again. Now the new wife wants to upset the apple cart. The bio. Mother is in this child's life and see's her when she can. We have had Jess scents she was 4 months old and she's 2 now.
