Shyness is a way of protecting yourself. Remember that. When shyness STOPS you from doing the things you desire in life, it's not good and you have to exercise strength of will to force your shyness down and out of the way.
If someone you knew asked you the question you asked us, what would you say to her? "Just talk to them anyway, don't expect anything, but don't run away from it." That's what you would say.
Doing that requires you to shelve the shyness long enough to have a conversation. There's no easy way to do that, you just have to suck it up.
Remember, they are just another person. They're not your "true love" and you won't "lose love forever" if you say the wrong thing and don't end up going out. They're just a normal person right now. They haven't done anything to warrant you being afraid of them.
