I had gotten into some trouble back in 2001 and was released in 2002. I have a felony on my record for obtaining property by false pretenses and served 1 1/2 yrs with probation when I was released that ended in july/2005. I applied for my passport and received it today in the mail. Now here is the question... I am planning a trip to Canada soon, hopefully. After reading some of the information on Welcome Page | Page d'accueil, there are some stipulations for felons such as getting a rehabilitation certificate. Though, some of the readings say that only a legal decision can be made at the point of entry. There is a table that has the types of sentences and the period for which you are eligible for rehabilitation. There is one that says imprisonment without parole and it says to wait five years after completion of the sentence imposed. Also there is one type that says strictly probation and the same applies to that. But no where does it say anything about imprisonment with probation. So are they looking at it as... imprisonment without parole (wait 5 years) and for probation (wait 5 years). So, are they seeing it as the end of your incarceration is the 5year waiting period or no? If there is anyone who has been to Canada and could please give me some information would be loved for life. Some people are saying I am good because my name was ran through the central name system and others are saying since I have a married name now and the crime was under my maiden name I am good. Just not sure. Please help... anything would be appreciated... thanks

I believe you will have trouble entering Canada. Although I'm not an authority, I happen to be Canadian. Here is a link that might help...
