    Goodman Air Handler AH2429 heat won't shut-off
I have a Goodman Air Handler AH2429 and the heating furnace won't shut-off.

When I disconnect the red wire from the furnace leading to the thermostat the furnace shuts-off and when I reconnected the wire, the furnace heat turns on (runs). I also checked the thermostat wiring - red to Rh, yellow to yellow, blue to blue and white to white. I have a honeywell RTH230B thermostat.

I guess that I have a faulty time relay? Am I right?

Please help me... my sincerest thanks...

You are doing what the thermostat should be doing.

    It could be

Low voltage wiring shorted between the furnace and thermostat.

Defective thermostat causing a call for heat all the time.

    HVAC1000,

Does your answer has two probabilities: one is I have a faulty time relay and the other, my thermostat is defective? Please answer back...

    Here are the two answers.

(1)Low voltage wiring shorted between the furnace and thermostat.

(2)Defective thermostat causing a call for heat all the time.

These answers were based upon your action taken with the connect and disconnect of the red wire at the furnace. I have no idea where you got a defective time delay from?

If the thermostat is not calling for heat and you connect and disconnect the red thermostat wire you are acting like a substitute thermostat working the furnace. This would lead one to believe that the problem is as I mentioned in number 1 or 2 above. It could be other items but I would check those first using normal diagnostic tools.
