need to know who signed this painting?
My husband got this painting from his father in 2000. His father bought it at an estate sale around 1985. All I know is that it is oil painting and it is on canvas and the signature start with the letter R. The painting is a 60x48. It was in a wood frame at one time and it also has a number on the back top.

That might very well be the worst signature I've ever tried to decipher. Honestly, I haven't got a clue.

Do you know how much his father paid for the painting? At the estate sale, what was the range of prices paid for the other paintings from the home?

In the second pic, is that the complete image?

I'm sorry I can't help you with the signature. As seen in the photograph, it really is illegible.

do you happen to know if he bid that figure or if it was instead the asking price?

how heavy/thick is the internal wooden frame on which the canvas is stretched?

are there any other identifiable notations on the back of the canvas?

I'm curious to know what the whole painting looks like. It might be a much better idea to post a picture of the entire thing. I'm curious to know if this is a decorate-the-living-room kind of painting or if it's something more interesting. That would make a big difference in asking price. The former would be of significantly less value; depending on the image, the latter could be worth significantly more. There really is no way to tell here without seeing the whole thing.
