About five months ago, my ex boyfriend and I split up. He resides in Milwaukee and I live in Chicago. I had to move back home with my family, and since are split he has only called on Thanksgiving and Christmas. If he's called any other time he's never left a message. He has five other children, and has really never been in there life. The only reason why he was seeing them this past year was because of me. I'm really not sure if he want's are child in his life, but he comes from a very unstable lifestyle and I won't feel comfortable with my son two hours away from me. How would I go about having him drop his rights? Will it only work if he's agreeable with it, or can he be forced to drop them? Also he's not paying child support and I really don't want it. I would much rather have him out of my son's life. Some advice would be great, because I'm really not sure what to do.

If you had looked at the top of the forum or looked through previous threads in this forum you would have had your answer. This question is asked and answered at least daily.

The answer is that it is very hard to relinquish one's parental rights. Only a court can terminate rights and courts will generally only do so to clear the way for an adoption or if the parent represents a danger to the child.

Yes, even if you and he both want him to give up his rights, I doubt you can. Courts will just not do it.

Now he just does not have to use or ask for any of his rights, he can agree to allowing you full custoy both legal and physcial.
He does not have to ask for any visits. And just be ordered to pay the min amount of child support
