    Construction Ideas?
    Hey :)

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to build a good looking canopy?
I am building a canopy for my eagle project for a battered womens/childrens organization. I could get donations to buy one, but they seem to be really expensive, so I would prefer to make one. Does anyone know of any ideas or good sites that explain the steps in making a nice looking canopy and what materials to use?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know of any sites you could go to for this. I was also thinking of building a canopy last year for my back raised deck (10'X12'). I ended up buying a used canopy made of metal and putting that up after I repainted it with Rustoleum paint. (2 coats and it looked brand new). It was quite a project and I did have fun doing it with my adult son.

You could put an ad in the local paper wanting to purchase a used canopy/awning and see what responses you get. Mine was 10'X30' and I paid $200 for it. That awning new would cost in the $2,000 range I found out.

You also need to check out any zoning or building dept regulations or specs that they require before starting this project or you could be putting up a canopy that might not meet code and you'd just have to take it down.
Building something out of wood is different than something made of metal.

    Good luck with your project!
