    loag bearing wall
I taking down a load bearing wall which is directly over my main wood beam. The new span distance will be 10'6".....I'm thinking about using a built up 6"x12" nominal wood beam to carry the load. The house is a one story rancher with a full basement and the roof pitch is 4/12... somewhat flat by comparsion to today's roofs.

    Any thoughts.. Thanks.
