You get the business insured by going to an insurance agent and buying the insurance.

You get the people who are working for the business bonded by going to an insurance agent and buying a bond for each person.

But why would a Handyman need to be bonded ?

    Hi, brandon1971!

I concur with Fr_Chuck as to where a person would go to get insurance and also to be bonded.

I've done work for a number of decades for people in their homes doing a variety of kinds of things. I've never been bonded, because it's not a requirement to be bonded in the locations where I work. Only once, in all these years, have I ever been asked by a customer if I was bonded. My reply was, that "No, it's not required in this state".

Now, you've mentioned that you registered with the county for your business. My question would be basically along the same line as Fr_Chuck's is, and that would be, since you've registered your business with the county, is part of the requirement to be registered, that you also have to be bonded, please?

Being bonded can be something that looks good when a person advertises what they can do for people, but it also might be an extra expense that, if you aren't required to be bonded, then why pay to be bonded?

    Thanks!
