Info about Tax Refund under J1 work and travel visa
Hi, I'm from Brazil and I worked for 3 months in USA last summer.
I've just received my 2008 W2 form. I would like now to get my tax back. However, I wouldn't like to pay a company to do this for me once I think I can do this by myself:rolleyes:.
The thing is I have no idea how to start the process . May anyone here help me?
    Thanks a lot!

You MAY want to re-consider getting professional help, because you must file as a non-resident alien, filing Form 1040NR and claiming your daily living expenses using Form 2106.

Form 1040NR CANNOT be filed on-line; it MUST be mailed.

This is a moderately complex tax return with a number of rules to follow and information sources to use. A competent tax professional with experience filing this form will have no problem filing it, but an amateur, especially someone with NO previous filing a U.S. tax return, could have significant problems.
