Second, did you read the response in the thread you posted in? In most states, including NY unsecured debt cannot be used against a personal residence.

Being new it would help if you read the FAQs and browse around a bit before posting.

The same answer holds, primary residences are exempt from liens or attachments for unsecured debt.

Ask your friend to show any facts to back up his statement. As far as I know primary residences are exempt.

Yes they can attach bank accounts and garnish salary if they obtain a judgement. But they can't touch your primary residence.
