Close water to entire house. Go to the lowest plumbing fixture in the house (basement ?), open hot and cold water. Also, go upstairs and open h/c water valves in tub to allow air in. Go to the heater, close cold water and open open T&P valve, and turn gas down to "vacation". Otherwise, it will keep reheating water and hot water will be overflowing to the system and down to the lowest fixtures. Wait ten minutes for hot water to drip out of the system.

(sorry, I'm an admin, not...

Put a bag of salt in my softener today and it appeared to be way over the brine level. Checked on it a few hours later and still had dry pellets on top. Manually regenerated the system - no fill. Letting it go through its cycle now, but wondering if there's something I'm overlooking. There's...

Water line to water softener size. [ 9 Answers ]

I'm installing a water softener this weekend and I just had a quick question. My service at my house comes in as 3/4" then is reduced to 1/2" at the water meter (in basement). From there it comes off and runs throughout the house and to the water heater, etc. The water softener I have has a...
