Can this landlord keep my desposit
I moved to New York for 3 months. Before I moved there I contacted this property which usually gives out 1 year leases and explained my situation to them. I signed a lease with them agreeing to pay almost double the regular rent they get from people who lease a one year contract with the understanding that I will be leaving after 3 months. I prepaid all of my rent upfront and there was a provision added to the bottom of the contract stating that I am allowed to break the contract(it was the original form they use) after 3 months with no penalties.
When I moved out and back to my home state I was expecting my security deposit back but every time I tried to contact the rental company they would give me the run around since they knew I am out of state. It has been over a month now and they are still giving me no answers and hinting that I am not going to get my security deposit. What is the appropirate action for me to take now and are they allowed to keep my deposit on any loophome they might have in mind?
    Thanks

I left everything in perfect condition. The apartment was cleaned just like the day I moved in.
