Money owed to me from a friend
When I was about 20 years old I made the mistake in co-signing a loan for a car for my friend. That friend later bailed on her responsibilities and to make a long story short I had to pay for the car in full in the amount of $8,000. I took her to small claims court in Winchester VA and we settled out of court for the full amount with the payments being $500 a month. Within the first three months she started paying less then the original agreement and then stopped paying all together. She still owes me $6,800. The courts basically told me that all I can do is refile the paper work and treat it like a new case. My only concern is that she will once again fail to pay me the money that is owed to me. What can I do to make sure that I receive the money that is owed to me? Help!

Since you settled out of court, yes you need to refile. This time get the judgement before you settle. With the judgement you can garnish her wages and/or attach her bank accounts.
