Getting son set up with the IRS
My son is now 19 and has never filed taxes, yet he has W-2's from 2006 and '08. Can he still file that far back and would he get the tax rebate that most of us got last year? Also can he claim EIC for himself? No kids. Signed, Mom:confused::confused:

He CANNOT claim the EIC unless he has a child that he is supporting.

He CAN file for both 2006 and 2008. He will have to mail the 2006 return, and should do so first, because the IRS MAY hold up the 2008 refund until they get the 2006 return.

He can claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on his 2008 return IF he is eligible, which is NOT likely because he had no income for 2007.
