    How should gas fired water heater be installed in a garage so that vapors are not ignited?

    Good question,, this is why many city and county codes will not allow gas hotwater heaters to be put in a garage

    You need a minimum of 18 inches off the floor according to code. You will also need protection posts placed in front of the heater if it can be hit by a moving vehicle.
