    New Thermostat Problems
I have an Electric system with a gas furnace... just installed Hunter Electronic Thermostat Model 40170. Now with thermo on "Auto", Heat will not cut off and on "Auto", Cool will not turn on... both Cool and Heat with turn on when thermo is switched to ON position. What have I done wrong?? Oh I have the Thermostat set to HG and STAND Positions... Wires were ran to same letters as they were on previous thermostat..

What's an "electric system with a gas furnace"? Are you saying you have a heat pump with gas stage two? The ON position on the thermostat is for the fan operation, not heat or cool. And what are the HG and STAND positions? Those aren't standard designations for a thermostat. And you are going to get a bunch of flak for using a Hunter thermostat. Honeywell, White-Rodgers are the ones to get, Hunter is usually considered junk by most.
