    Toilet tank bolts
    Hi,this inquiry is about using chalking under the bolts that go through the bottom of the tank
    On a toilet,somewhere I thought I saw that it was suggested that you would have a better
    Chance of them not leaking if you put a bead under washers,thank,s
    The area that I was talking about was inside the water tank where the two pieces come
    Together a bead of chalking would seal around the bolts and under the washers,thank,s

    Nope Not necessary Here are some videos as to why and you will see the wax ring is plenty to seal the flange. If its leaking now then replace the wax ring. Caulk gets hard and you don't want a seal there to get hard.

    Whisky 4... I think 21boat misunderstood your question...

    You do not want to use caulking under the bolts or on the washers of the toilet to tank bolts...see picture. Some people will use pipe dope on the threads, but I was taught not to do that and I have never had a problem... promise!

    Here, just put washers over the bolts and install with washers and nuts provided. Follow package instructions. Be sure to use a level to level the tank from front to back and side to side. Just don't get so distracted with leveling the tank that you overtighten the bolts and crack the tank... YUP!! I did it installing my third toilet tank... ;)
