    Intra Uterine Fetal Demise.
I want to know all the details of the above topic.Recently,my relative had her check up after she felt that her baby inside her womb is not moving oneday after 29 weeks of pregnancy. Then she aws taken to a doctor who scanned her told her that her baby's heart beat had been stopped and this condition is called as "Intra Uterine Fetal Demise".
Can anybody explain in detail all the aspects of the above subject. What is the exact reason for this type of occurrence in pregnant women that too in such a advanced period of pregnancy(After 29 weeks).Does this condition gives any pre-warning or hints before the occurrence so that any preventive medical assistance can be taken. What r the pre-cautions can be taken in future pregnancies form repeat of the same medical condition?

I am so sorry to hear your relative has had to endure this heartbreak. There could be a number of possible reasons... an undetected infection, a blood clotting issue, an abnormality of baby, placenta not functioning properly, etc.
Has the baby already been delivered? They will likely run some tests on the baby, placenta, and mother to see if a cause can be determined. Sadly, there sometimes won't be an explanation.

Ten days before mother scanning was done and everything was fine and all the characters of the baby were fine. But only on 28/01/2009 at 2p.m mother felt that her baby in her womb was not moving. Then she was taken to doctor.Infact 3 days before to it mother's blood sugar was slightly increased and she was given insulin injections. But all of a sudden mother felt her baby's movements were stalled.
No still baby was not delivered.Doctors are trying to deliver the baby naturally by inducing artificial labour pains.I sit safe for the mother to carry the baby in that condition till now from 28/1/2009?Doctors are insisting to get the baby deliver by normal delivery.
Pl reply as soon as possible.

Is the mother diabetic? Or had she been diagnosed with gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy)?

Often it will be preferred to allow the baby to be delivered naturally. I know that can sound like it would be worse for the mother, but medically it would be preferred over major surgery as with a ceasarain birth.
