    Spotting on the pill
I have been on birth control for 9 years and on several different kinds. I have tried the pill, monophasic and triphasic as well as lunelle (the monthly shot) and the nuva ring. For the last 2 years I have had irregular spotting in between my periods. I was on yasmin and changed to lo-overel, then to yaz, and now to ortho tricyclen, thinking that the higher triphasic pill might cut it. Well I'm a week and a half into the pills and like clockwork, I'm spotting. This time it is heavy, like another period. My question is should I go off birth control pills completely or should I have an ultrasound to look for something like endometreosis? This is really frustrating... I also have pms symptoms too before the spotting like mood swings. Please help!!

I highly recommend talking to your doctor about this. Its possible that this is a progesterone or B-vitamin deficiency but only a doctor can tell you for sure.

In some cases, it just takes several months for your period to regulate on the pill and each new pill is a new adjustment.
