Confused Mom about Dead Beat Dad
I am a mother of a 2 and 1/2 year old son and his father has never seen him and has only paid twice to avoid jail the first time and was bailed out by his current wife the second time and has not talked to me since before our son was born and I am going through the attorney general it just does not seem they are doing anything they have a warrant out for his arrest but they say that's all they can do and that is his third warrant out and he owns his own business and makes 6 figure digits a year and pays on his other daughters child support faithfully and has everything to do with her and I do not know what else to do should I try to get legal aide to assist me in trying to pursue the child support or get them to assist me in getting his right revolked for abandoment because he does nothing in his will or way to assist with our child or even want to be involved so if anyone has any information that could assist me in the right direction please speak or forever hold your peace
    THank you

Why hasn't the court subpeonaed his tax records or the company's payroll records? If a warrant has been issued why has he not been arrested again?

Owning a business does not stop him from being arrested, so why is he not in jail now. Why has his tax returns, the company books been required in court.

Sounds like the attorneys need to do a beter job.

And what will taking away rights do ? He has not visited, so he is not using his rights anyway, and to be honest most judges willl not even consider it, they may admend the custody agreement to take away his visits.

Sounds like you and your attrney need to play a lot harder "ball" with him

I do not know why the attorney general is who I am going through they said they have done all they can do and they said the only way he will get arrested is if he gets pulled over and they run his license so on and so forth I wish they would do something because it is a pain because he owes over $13 thousand and keeps growing

I understand that owning a business doesn't stop him from being arrested but they will not arrest him until he gets pulled over and they run his license they won't just go pick him up and its aggravating cause nothing is getting done and I do not know why his company books are not also required in court well I guess the attorney general doesn't want to do anything with it and I am not able to afford a personal lawyer so here's hoping something may be done soon.

Sounds like you need to go to your county court house and see the state attoreny general, the state DA, or similar title and demand to know why something is not being done.

Is there a child support enforcement department in your state

I do not know as to whom to speak with at the County Court House but I guess it wouldn't hurt to go up there and see and yes there is a enforcement office but it is an hour away and each time I call to get my caseworker to call and speak with me they say they are never available and can have them call me back and I never receive a call back and needless to say I don't even know who my caseworker is.

You need to be more proactive about hounding your case worker, finding the right process etc. Check for an enforcement unit. See if there are support groups for single others to get child support.

I guess I am not really proactive because I do not have the right resources or if I do I don't know where to find them I have tried searches on Google and different search engines I guess I am just not looking in the correct directions I just don't know whether to file for abandonment or try to get the child support because later on I don't want him to try to be involved if he isn't already trying to be involved it is a very diffucult decision to make I just want what's best for my son and I have the right to call him my son because his so called father is not treating him fairly so I am just very fustrated and don't know where to turn I have called to speak with a local lawyer that is very good in our area but she charges $100 just for the consulation
