Slow kitchen faucet
The Glacier Bay kitchen faucet is flowing slowly. The rest of the faucets in the house are okay. I suspect something is caught below the plastic valve below the spout.
When I remove the spout, there is a plastic valve in the seat, between the 2 faucets. To remove that valve, does it need to be unscrewed or can it be pulled out to be replaced?
When the valve is removed, will it need to be replaced with a new one or can it be cleaned out and put back in?
Does that valve need to be in a particular position?
Thanks.

Before you do anything: remove Aerator and see if water runs OK. If positive, clean aerator and reinstall.

I already cleaned areator. I removed the spout and made sure that wasn't blocked. I suspect the problem is below the plastic valve below the spout.
I want to know about removing that filter, cleaning it or replacing it.
Thanks.

It's a Glacier Bay 2-handled faucet I bought at Home Depot about 8 years ago.

First, make sure your angles stops are not clogged. Remove water supplies, put towel over each angles top and crack open it on at the time. See if you get enough pressure.
Second, remove both water supply lines from the faucet connection. Make sure there is no debris in the these lines. Open angles stops and run through them into a bucket. When reinstalling, make sure you don't kink them
Third: remove plastic cartridge. Clean body of faucet and cartridge. Run water through body of faucet w/o cartridge. At this point: remove aerator and blow air through spout into the faucet. If you feel restricted flow - then deal with the spout and its interior passages. It is the last place that can get clogged.

Milo,
Thanks. The plastic cartridge. How do I remove it? Unscrew it or pull it out?

There should be a flimsy chrome nut that holds it in. You take channel locks and unscrew it. Make sure you turn off h/c water supplies before you do that. Does the cartridge looks like this?

No. It's standing up with a tube that goes into the spout where the water flows through.

Milo,
We're leaving for a couple days. Fortunately, the problem can wait. I appreciate your time and effort.
I'll use your suggestions when I return and I'll let you know how it turned out.
Thanks.

The Kitchen faucet is a single knob. Both cold and hot has slow water pressure. If you use the sprayer and stop then the water pressure returns to normal for both cold and hot. You must always use the sprayer to get normal water pressure. Sprayer is not part of single faucet but is part of unit.
