    Okay, I'm sad now.

On the pets forum someone came on yesterday and asked about her sick puppy. From what she described it was obviously parvo. We told her to take the pup to the vet but she couldn't afford it so she tried to care for him at home. Parvo cannot be treated at home, but she couldn't find another option. Well, the puppy died last night. :(

Someone cheer me up please. I hate this part of AMHD. :(

I had 7 sisters, stepsisters and step brothers.. the law was quickly laid down... and if you did not abide... there was always the quick slap upside the head.

I do not and have never agreed to this sort of punishment and I never applied it to my two children and they do not do that to theirs either.

I found that fear and physical punishment is not a healthy contributor to bringing up children. And if it happens, they continue it with their own children... the loop continues.

Now did I ever spank them... yes, both on only two occasions during the time they were are home.

I am very sorry to hear this, I am sure that given the circumstances the vet would have given her a break. And this poor puppy would have gotten one also.

I just try to get them to get along and they do at some points. Just others not so good. Anything and everything annoys them about each other. I don't spank them either, not to say I never have. Very very rarely have I ever laid my hands on my kids. I found that if I take their phones, it seems to do pretty darn good;)

Awww, alty, poor puppy. Ohh so sad. Sorry to hear that, and I do know that just like anything else, if you can't afford it, don't do it! Poor little puppy

    Thanks you two. :)

The saddest thing is that it was already to late for this puppy, even if she had gotten to a vet. Parvo is deadly within hours, the survival rate isn't high and those that do survive are usually sickly and weak for the rest of their lives. Sometimes I think that the ones that die of this disease are better off than the survivors. It's a horrible disease, highly contagious, can live for years in feces etc.

If she had gotten to a vet the treatment would have cost thousands of dollars, it's not cheap and not a guarantee of survival.

I just wish there was more we could do than just type out some helpful tips and then leave hoping everything will work out.

Sorry guys, I'm bringing down the mood. I just feel a bit down because of this. I wish there was more I could do. :(

Yes, she is. She said this was the first dog she ever had, she doubts she'll get another. I suggested that she adopt an older dog from a shelter, one with all it's shots. No matter what, she'll have to disinfect her entire house and yard and wait at least 6 months. Even a dog with all it's shots can get parvo, although it's usually a milder case. Poor puppy, he didn't have a chance. :(

Okay, no more sad, sad, let's be happy now. I have to clean today (wait, I said happy right? ;))

    I wish I had beer! :)

My house is clean... sorry Alty, I have had way too much time to do it, so I did it;)
I would really like to rearrange the dog room it is about 12 by 20 feet and he is the only one in there... a desk a few mis placed pieces of furniture, but since he is a blak lab and sheds like crazy, I leave the room alone and let it get to its worst shape before cleaning it...
I would never let him in the rest of this house, I would be miserable cleaning all the time (more than I do now) Aww, what to do, what to do

Go for it. Maybe get him involved. Throw some toys for him to fetch while you tidy, a good belly rub, some hugs and kisses, before you know it the room will be clean and organized. ;)

I have the bunny room, and boy does it get messy. The bunny's are cleaned daily, but the area on the floor isn't, so I always have a few stray wood chips and bunny poos on the floor. I need one of those vaccuums that just goes all day and does the job on its own. ;)

    Actually, I need a maid. :)

Well, all I can say is that you girls are obsessive compulsive, hire a cleaning company and just sit and give orders as to what you want done... very easy... right?

    Well, you wanted some humor?

Stringer, I'd pay to have you come here and clean, but I have some demands. It has to be you and you have to wear a little uniform, shall I tell you what I have in mind, or would it be better if I left you guessing? ;)
