    Obtaining proof of citizenship
    Hello Everyone,

Basically, I'm 24 years old with no state ID and Drivers License.

The reasons for this is because while I was growing up, my mom lost every document pertaining to my citizenship (ie: passport).

I was born abroad. My dad was in the US Navy and my mom at that time a philippine citizen when I was born.

We moved to the US and my mom was naturalized and from my what my mom said, I was waived because I was so young. Literally at the most 2 years old which "automatically" made me a US Citizen.

I have a SSN and alien Number. I've been asking for help and tried to obtain anything that would help me get my valid ID. b(since the age of 15)

I went to Immigration and they said I would need to pay $460.00 plus fill out a form just to find this information.

I also "technically" married to a US citizen but we are currently separated.

I really don't know what to do and I'm trying to avoid going through My "ex" husband and paying the 460.00.

My birth certificate states my dad on their as a us citizen and I also have a passport affidavit that has my dad claiming me as his daughter.

Everyone that I go through give me a hard time even though there is a seal stating that that document should help me obtain citizenship.

Please anyone help me or refer to someone who can help me.

I would really appreciate any help to finally be legal to drive and actually go to 21 and up events without hassel.

    Thank you very much.
    Katrina

You don't need an attorney... but you need $460 fee for the form N-600. Download here: Application for Certificate of Citizenship

Prepare supported documents according to the instructions, you should get the Certificate of Citizenship in 6-8 weeks. After that you can apply for US passport, driver's license, etc. Keep it in safe place.

    Thank you for your response.

I called USPS and they said I can do a file search since I had a Blue US passport when I was younger (9). Is this a better way to obtain citizenshoip?
