    Connecting laptop to TV
Having bought various cables in an attempt to connect my Compaq C550EM laptop to my TV, without success, is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction?
I would like to be able to transfer both video and audio from laptop to TV.

    Cheers in advance.

Well to start what kind of outputs does your laptop have, does it only have a standard monitor plug? If so does your TV have a PC input?

I think there are 2 relevant outputs 1 is round (7 pin S-Video?) The other looks like a miniture Skart connection.

    I have ordered a 7 pin S-Video with 3 jack plugs attached, 1 Yellow, 1 red, 1 white. But..
The manufacturer say's this will only give video but not audio.

The laptop manufacturer lists this model as having a "TV out" facility.

    Thanks for taking the time

Not sure if the image will work... basically for me, I use a VGA out connector and my TV has a VGA in... does the mini skart connector you refer to look like the VGA connector or the DVI.

Also you also mentionned S-Video out on the laptop... this could work... does your TV have S-Video in. Yes S-Video only does video, audio will go through the white and red cables attached to it... though most computers do not have this type of output.

Image was fine, the "mini skart" on my laptop is exactly as your image don't have the DVI type connection.
TV is new and has everything the HDMI connections on the TV look very much like the VGA.
As you say the S-video conector only gave video not audio.
Looking at the inputs on the TV I would say no problem, the limitations seem to be with the Laptop? Any advice you are able to offer. I will act upon immediately.
    One again thanks
