    Strange squatter
    Strange situation,
My Mother in law passed away on Dec 29th. We live in Wisconsin, she lived in Florida. My husband is an only child.
Her boyfriend refuses to leave her house. It has been 4 weeks since her passing and he still has yet to let anyone in the house.
We are filing eviction papers tomorrow, is there anything we can do to get him out sooner than waiting for the eviction? At some point I would like to go back home... and get this freeloader out of her house.
She did not have a will, by Florida law everything goes to the closest heir, my Husband, her only son.
She lived in a mobile home in a park, he is not on the lease of the land, he was not on any of the bills, he has never paid a thing. The first time my husband or I met him was the Thursday after her passing, whenever we came her my mother in law sent him to his mothers.
I have receipts for EVERYTHING in the house paid for by her.
The house is paid for in full, we paid the lot rent this month and will continue to do so, the park manage doesn't want him there as he has not passed an application, and wouldn't because he has been in prison for scamming old people.
Please, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

You could always call the police and kick him out.

We have tried that, the police say that it is his home and he has rights because of that. They agree that what he is doing is wrong but will not do anything to help us.
I did talk to another officer the other day and he suggested that we walk in to the department and ask to talk to someone, give them all of our paper work and see if they will help. We are going to try that today.

You will probably have to go the eviction route with this as it is a civil matter as the guy was living there. He just didn't break in and start living there. I seriously doubt if the police can do anything to make him leave.

I'd go to the court house and start eviction proceedings tomorrow.

From what we heard today from the police and our attorney is as soon as the house is put into my husbands name, which will happen tomorrow, we can move into the house with him... lets see if he still wants to stay after that. If not the eviction process will be started as soon as the judge signs the papers putting it in his name. The papers are already at the court house and ready to go on record.
