It's an older movie where a huge red box appears in a little boy's room and I think it was a red phone booth or something of the sort. He goes into it and he becomes an animation in a magical land. He drives a shiny red car and meets a talking shaggy dog. He gets his car stuck in the "doldrums" where he and the dog start to fall asleep and has to get out before they swallow him up.

In another part of the movie he has to literally eat his words. Then there is a part where he is running up some magical suspended stairs and each one he steps on disappears behind him. Then he returns to his bedroom at the end.

That's all I can remember, there was a lot more to it than that, but if you know something please let me know.
