    Back Taxes
    I 've just been awarded SSD Disability. I live in Arizona. Can the IRS attach my disability
    Before I begin to receive payments, and retro active money.

    Yes. But they will leave some for you that they feel is enough for you to survive.

    The IRS can attach the retroactive payment, which often amounts to tens of thousands of dollars, and that payment WILL be subject to income taxes.

    However, once that issue is settled, the IRS CANNOT attach month SSI disability payments if that is your ONLY source of income.
