    Shower problems
    Hi,

About 3 months ago, Speedball helped me install a new Moen 1225 cartridge in my shower. It's been working great. However, within the last week or so, my shower has developed a strange symptom. About half the time I shower, for the first two-three minutes I can't get the water cool enough even though I have the knob turned all the way to the cold setting. After these few minutes, it becomes very cold, and then I can adjust it to the temperature I want. I'm not sure why this is. Additionally, just two days ago the pressure for the shower (not the bath) has decreased significantly. My wife describes it as more of a "pins and needles" feeling than a steady stream of water. I presume these two issues are just coincidental. Is the low pressure related to something wrong where the water comes out for the shower? Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi David and welcome back,

Since this is a intermittent problem it will be very difficult to track down the hot water on the cold side until it happens all the time. But as a check for both problems I would pull the cartridge and check the inlet ports for any crud that might have built up. At the same time, while the valve's open, I would flush out the supply lines. Let me know if it helps. Tom
