How much should I feed my 5 month old girl
    Hi

I would like some guidance to how much should I feed my Little girl(time table). She is 5 months old.
Im breastfeeding. When should I feed her poridge(how much), purity fruit (how much) and purity vegtables(and how much). I give her one bottle split en two(S26) and the rest is breast milk.

Generally it is recommended to not offer any solids until 6 months... some babies may do fine a little sooner, some would benefit from waiting even longer. This holds true especially for breastfed babies as some nutrients, such as iron, will no be absorbed as easily if solids are given too soon. Baby's meals will be different from older children and adults. We eat our food with some drink on the side... babies have their milk as the main meal, with some solids on the side.

When you do start porridge, or any other solid (mashed avocado by the way is a great first food), always offer the breastmilk or formula first. Solids are more of a compliment to the milk and should be introduced gradually. After her milk feed, offer a few baby spoons of the food, see how she does. Introduce one food at a time... for example, porridge for several days, before you would introduce a new food. This way, if she happens to have a reaction to a food it will be easier to determine which one caused the problem.

Over the next few months, she will gradually take in more food and less milk, but still offer the breastmilk/formula first as this will be her main source of nutrition for the first year if not longer.

Look at the side of the cereal box and it gives you guidelines for a babies first cereal feeding. Most doctors will tell you that the baby is going to start to need more calories around four months old. So if your baby is 5 months old you could probably start giving some pouridge/cereal. But just to be sure ask the baby's doctor what they recommend.

You're exactly right, some peds will still go with the four months. Many are not as up on the differences between feeding breastfed babies and formula fed babies as would be nice unfortunately.
With what is known now, even the baby food companies are stating it's time to start solids around 6 months.
Many mothers are told to start solids when baby shows signs of being more hungry or if they are not putting weight on as quickly as the doctor may like, however, solids have no more calories in them, and sometime less, then breastmilk or formula. So it really doesn't make sense to start solids for those purposes.

Yes I have a 10 month old and I started feeding him a little cereal either mixed with brest milk, or formula, at about 4 months old, he did have reflux and that is why I started it, so that it would be more solid, and it would help him keep down his food. He is now 10 months old and is completely on table food and whole milk. Nothing I have ever done has hurt him, I think it has helped him grow. Every once in a while I will give him 3rd foods in the baby food, but not every day! Your baby is old enough to be eating the 1st foods and cereal in my opinion.
