Got a DTC: P 1404 How to Fix?
I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre 3.8L V6, got this DTC: P 1404 "Valve Pintle Stuck Open", Can this Be Removed and Cleaned? IF SO, How do I Activate it, After I Clean it, to make sure it's functioning Correctly? "IF" I need to Replace, would a Unit out of the Salvage Yard Work?
Those NEW ones are rather Spendy... :(

P1404 speaks to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

It can be removed, but I wouldn't try cleaning it. This particular valve is a digital linear valve and unless you can clean it thoroughly, it will fail again. Same thing with one from a salvage yard: you may be installing virtually the same problem.

There are two nuts (#4) that mount the EGR but there may also be a fuel line sharing a mounting bolt. Make sure you clean the mounting surface (#3) and replace the gasket (#2).

Spendy? Yes, they are a little. Shop around.

I'd also check with the dealer on this one; I've found some of the newer GM EGR valves to occasionally be the same price, if not less than aftermarket.
