Make sure all pc's have same workgroup name

Make sure you have file and print sharing checked in firewall settings

Set all of you vista machines to Private and not public in Network and Sharing Center

Network and Sharing Center - make sure you have all of your sharing settings set to On also here

Make sure you have file and print sharing in firewall on XP machine also

If you want to share, let's say c: drive on one machine so another machine will see it, Make sure you have c: drive shared

-right click on the drive you want to share (C: drive) and click sharing and then make sure you have check mark in sharing and click apply

Now on machine you want to view that c: drive that is on another machine.
-on other machine, click on tools and then Map Network Drive and then browse - the drive you shared should come up and then you can assign a drive letter to it

For the printers, I am sure you are going to printers in control panel and then adding printer and choosing network printer
